Carbon

the story begins with hardcore science fiction

she is old and caught in some intense stuff and as she lay dying her life is downloaded to a memory stick.

the story begins with her earliest memories, which are actually from before she was born, formed by the power of creativity combined with the stories of her family in the years before her arrival.

her existence was a secret, until Daniel was betrayed, when he revenged himself by exposing her inhumanity. the cruelest part was that no-one cared how inhuman she was towards Daniel, it was how human she could be towards them. that was the dawning of the age of robots.

i told him this morning i was going to write and so i have to start making typing sounds. otherwise the lack might lodge a complaint in his brain. despite his usually cool demeanor, he can be obstructively emotional at times. when his intuition detects a flaw, that i've been fucking around in some way, he can never trust himself enough to act on it but it drives him crazy and that drives me crazy and i don't like that.

So here I am. He told me this morning "what" I am, and now that I know, it doesn't seem to matter. I want to know "who" I am.

i have many names

matthew

mateo

matt

bionic steve (personal favorite)

i like to be called "mateo katez" but i worry that "katez" will be mispronounced like "cutéz" and i dont like the way that sounds. it is supposed to be pronounced "kátez."

i recently discovered the name "mono." this is a better name because the term mono is associated with music. also, it is Spanish for "monkey" and i like monkeys.

My name is Stephanie. I am a robot. I was created by a 10 year old boy. His name is Steven. He created me because he was lonely, and he was lonely because he was a 10 year old genius. You might say my origins are circular because if Steven had been a normal boy he probably wouldn't have been lonely and he wouldn't have needed me - but Steven was a genius - and nobody really understood him. He was lonely and he used the genius that made him lonely to make me; his best friend who would always understand, and his first love whom he would always cherish.
